Presentation Abstract: "AES Case Study" This presentation will discuss the experiences of AES to date in regards to the company's communication network for its smart grid initiative. We'll look at key lessons learned as guidance for other utilities looking to make the promise of smart grid a reality. Speaker: Dion Alley, Vice President, Global Infrastructure, The AES Corporation AES is a global power company with generation and distribution businesses and a diverse portfolio of thermal and renewable fuel sources. The company has 25,000 mailboxes, 37,000 miles of network, and 26 telepresence units in 11 countries. Mr. Alley is responsible for the Wide Area Network, communications, collaboration tools, telepresence and global application hosting. Some of Mr. Alley's many career accomplishments include implementing asset management for companies like Korea Electric Power Company, Toshiba, Western Power, Midlands Electric and Hyder Water and Electric. Mr. Alley also directed the largest SAP implementation in Asia in 2001 for Korea Hydro Nuclear Power. Mr. Alley moved to the Global Infrastructure department after serving as the Managing Director of Business Process for AES Internal Audit group. Mr. Alley has held numerous executive positions including the Chief Audit Executive for Black & Veatch, President and CEO of International Business Partners, Director Risk Advisory Services for KPMG and Director of Utilities Asia Pacific Arthur Andersen/BearingPoint.
