Presentation Abstract:

"Case Study: Accelerating Smart Meter Deployment and Its Associated Benefits"

The city of Rock Hill, South Carolina is an example of a municipally owned and operated utility that initially deployed the network for smart meters -- power and water. Today, the city-wide wireless broadband mesh network is helping other city departments improve efficiencies, customer satisfaction, public safety and billing accuracy, while significantly reducing operational costs.

This presentation will discuss the key requirements for broadband wireless deployments, by reviewing and comparing wireless broadband technologies. Jimmy Bagley, Jr., CIO for Rock Hill will speak directly to how wireless broadband has helped Rock Hill accelerate its smart meter deployment and its associated benefits.

This presentation was originally part of the Smart Grid Virtual Summit on July 29, 2010.
